Eco Pirates is passionate about ocean conservations. When we move the ships to Samoa HQ we seek to establish coral nurseries to replant coral and strengthen coral reefs.
Coral reefs protect coastlines from storms and erosion, provide jobs for local communities, and offer opportunities for recreation. They are also are a source of food and new medicines.
Reef systems in the pacific are under threat with bigger weather events, pollution, COTS blooms and other factors impacting negatively on thier health and wellbeing.
We met Artificial Reefs Samoa online and have ben supporting them with awareness raising and some fundraising here in Christchurch. When we visit Samoa at the end of 2022 we hope to strengthen the relationship and make more contributions to thier programme. Artificial Reefs Samoa is the leading reef conservation community driven project in Samoa and the pacific. Moving forward we hope to join them and contribute to the effort.
Eco Pirates is building an HQ within a marine sanctuary where we will focus our reef planting efforts and turtle conservation work.
